Alvar Aalto - Finland
Seinäjoki Government Offices
Kirkkokatu 8, Seinäjoki

1962 - 1968

For this building existed no detailed plans, when Alvar Aalto won the competition for the Seinäjoki town centre in 1958. The elaboration of the project started in 1962, the final drawings date from 1964 to 1968. The white rendered complex of the Seinäjoki Government Offices consists of two-to-three storey volumes forming the termination of Alvar Aalto's plan for the city centre. The building contains several government offices, including police offices, a tax office, the Illmajoki district court and a number of staff apartments.
