In the 1940s, the architects Pierre Sardou and Boët had been commissioned to build the Faculty of Arts and Law of Aix-en-Provence. After the war, the site was further developed by René Egger and Fernand Pouillon. However, the library of the Law Faculty should remain the only building of the two architects on the campus. The University Library was opened in 1956. The south-facing library on the forecourt of the Faculty of Law consists of three buildings grouped around a courtyard. The stone ensemble is in harmony with the neo-classical facades of the other faculty buildings. In 2016 - 2017, the library was completely renovated and reopened to the public in September 2017.
In den 1940er Jahren hatten die Architekten Pierre Sardou und Boët den Auftrag für den Bau der Fakultät für Kunst und Recht von Aix-en-Provence erhalten. Nach dem Krieg wurde das Gelände von René Egger und Fernand Pouillon weiter entwickelt. Die Bibliotheke der Rechtsfakultät sollte jedoch das einzige Gebäude der beiden Architekten auf dem Campus bleiben. Die Universitätsbibliothek wurde 1956 eröffnet. Die nach Süden ausgerichtete Bibliothek auf dem Vorplatz der Juristischen Fakultät besteht aus drei Baukörper, die um einen Innenhof gruppiert sind. Das steinerne Ensemble steht im Einklang mit den neoklassizistischen Fassaden der anderen Fakultätsgebäude. In den Jahren 2016 - 2017 wurde die Bibliothek komplett renoviert und im September 2017 der Öffentlichkeit wieder zugänglich gemacht.
