Pierre Puget - France

Pierre Puget (16.10.1620 - 2.12.1694) was a French painter and sculptor of the Baroque. During his stay in Florence and Rome in the years 1640-43, he devoted himself to painting with Pietro da Cortona. In this phase, Pierre Puget was involved among others in the painting of the Palazzo Pitti. But soon afterwards he returned to France and became the official painter of the cities of Toulon and Marseille. In the 1650s, he painted many altarpieces for churches in southern France, before he traveled again to Rome. Pierr Puget died in 1694 in the French port of Marseille.

Pierre Puget (16.10.1620 - 2.12.1694) war ein französischer Maler und Bildhauer des Barocks. Während seinem Aufenthalt in Florenz und Rom in den Jahren 1640 bis 1643 widmete er sich bei
Pietro da Cortona der Malerei. In dieser Phase war Pierre Puget unter anderem An der Ausmalung des Palazzo Pitti beteiligt. Bald darauf kehrte er aber nach Frankreich zurück und wurde offizieller Maler der Städte Toulon und Marseille. In den 1650er Jahren malte er viele Altarbilder für Kirchen in Südfrankreich, bevor er nochmals nach Rom reiste. Pierr Puget verstarb 1694 in der französischen Hafenstadt Marseille.
