JSK Architects - Germany

In 1963 Helmut Joos founded an architectural firm in Frankfurt am Main. In the subsequent years he planned in partnership with Reinhard W. Schulze the Sheraton Hotel at the Frankfurt Airport. In 1980 the architects Helmut W. Joos, Reinhard W. Schulze and Karsten Krueger-Heyden foundend JSK in Frankfurt am Main. In addition to the existing offices in Frankfurt and Braunschweig a further office in Düsseldorf was founded in 1988. In the following years, JSK opend offices in other locations, such as in Berlin, Zurich and Warsaw. In 2004 JSK took over the Munich based office SIAT GmbH and founded another office location. In 2010 the partners of the Düsseldorf office have been disengaged themself from JSK and founded the office SOP Architects. JSK employed temporarily up to 150 employees, in November 2013 the architectural office went bankrupt in parts. One of the reasons for bankruptcy was certainly the desastrous commission for the Berlin Brandenburg Airport, on which the collaborated with Gerkan, Marg and Partners.
