Sauerbruch Hutton Architects - Germany

Sauerbruch Hutton is a German office for architecture, urbanism and design based in Berlin. The architectural firm was founded in 1989 by Louisa Hutton and Matthias Sauerbruch, tody it is an internationally active office. Matthias Sauerbruch studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin and at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. From 1995 onwards he was a professor at the Technical University of Berlin and from 2001 to 2007 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. Louisa Hutton studied at the Bristol University and the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London.
The designs by Sauerbruch Hutton are noted for their synthesis of building and colour, and for the use of fluid curvilinear forms. At the same time the architecture by Sauerbruch Hutton is well known for its technical innovation and environmental sustainability. With the GSW Headquarters in Berlin from 1991, Sauerbruch Hutton for the first time received wide recognition.
