Péter Reimholz & Csomay Zsófia Hungary
Guesthouse Raoul Wallenberg
Toldy Ferenc Utca 8 - 10, Budapest
2000

The guest house Raoul Wallenberg belongs to the Collegium Budapest, and was designed by the architects Peter Reimholz and Csomay Zsofia.
The building was completed in 2000 and is located directly below the Fishermen's Bastion. The building is situated between two streets, with its restrained architecture
the building blends into the existing edification. At the lower Toldy Ferenc Utca there are rising three floors
above the sloping base while at the higher Szabó Ilonka Utca
there are only two floors above the base. The building is stepped in accordance with the topography between the two streets. A staircase along the stepped elevation and
the minimalist façade design characterize the end of the block between the two streets. Only two special places the architecture of the building becomes a little playful.
Towards the Toldy Ferenc Utca the façade surfaces twist and correspond with the geometry of the site, while the rear entrance sited at the Szabó Illonka Utca gives origin
to a romantic little square. The volume of the strong U-shaped building is tied together by a base made of natural stone. Big double-wing windows and the access galleries on
the courtyard side give a special atmosphere of Budapest to
the guesthouse Raoul Wallenberg.
