Esther + Rudolf Guyer - Switzerland
Ernst Basler & Partner Office Building
Zollikerstrasse 65, Zollikon
1986

The whole ensemble consisting of several volumes, designed by Esther & Rudolf Guyer, is characterized by exposed brick masonry on the interior and on the exterior. Symmetrical fronts with gabled roofs are sited on the sloping plot and are related to the road. On street level, there is the access to the garage, while the access for pedestrians is made by a stair leading to a planted couryard. The windows are made of larch wood, while the roofs and parapets are made of copper. The interior floors consist of clinker while granite is used for the outdoor floors. The use of natural materials in earthy brown-red tones creates the warm atmosphere which was desired by the client for the office building.
